Men's Basketball Routs Penn State Berks

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – After suffering the team's first loss since before Thanksgiving on Tuesday, Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team bounced back in a big way by rolling United East foe Penn State Berks 89-39 at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 5.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (17-2, 10-1 United East) secured its 10th conference win of the year on Saturday, blowing past Penn State Berks (0-17, 0-11 United East) by 50 points – the team's largest margin of victory this season.

Donyae Baylor-Carroll scored a game-high 18 points, while Brandon Coleman and Pedro Rodriguez netted a dozen each. Nate Curry added an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double and 11 different Penn State Harrisburg players got into the scoring act on Saturday.

The hometown Lions raced out to a 14-5 lead following a Baylor-Carroll old-fashioned 3-point play and the ensuing Chris Haynes offensive board and layup at the 14:25 mark of the opening half. After Berks answered with a 3-ball, the Blue & White responded with a 17-0 run that included a pair of Baylor-Carroll triples, a Coleman dunk, and a Rodriguez trey.

Penn State Harrisburg stretched the lead to 30 for the first time thanks a Coleman tip in following a Baylor-Carroll steal late in the first half. The advantage climbed to 40 less than four minutes into the second half when Dylan Daniels converted a free throw with 16:50 left. The Lions never let up, holding Penn State Berks to just nine points in the final nine minutes.
