Men's Hoops Earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team has earned the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for its success in the classroom during the 2019-20 season.

In order to earn the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, a men's basketball program must earn a team grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher after counting the GPAs of all players who competed during the 2019-20 season.

As a whole, the Lions earned a team GPA of 3.29. Penn State Harrisburg racked up a program-record 21 victories, won its first-ever North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship, and knocked off No. 6 Johns Hopkins in a memorable triple-overtime thriller in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament in March. As a team, the Blue & White received votes in the final D3hoops.com Top 25 poll of the season.

In keeping with the program's academic success, men's basketball players Clinton Asalu and Brandon Coleman were recently named to the NABC Honors Court after carrying 3.2 or higher GPAs as upperclassmen.
