Men's Hoops Heading to No. 6 Johns Hopkins For NCAA Tourney

INDIANAPOLIS – For the first time in program history, Penn State Harrisburg will compete in the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship Tournament, as revealed by the tournament selection committee on Monday afternoon, March 2.

 

The Lions (20-7) won their first North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Championship on Saturday afternoon to clinch the league's automatic qualifier. Penn State Harrisburg will travel to Johns Hopkins (24-3) to take on the No. 6 Blue Jays at Goldfarb Gymnasium at the Newton White Athletic Center in the team's first-round contest at 6 p.m. on Friday afternoon, March. 6. The Blue & White are joined in the region at Johns Hopkins by Yeshiva (27-1) and WPI (20-7). The winners of Friday's matchups will meet in second-round action on Saturday afternoon.

 

 

All tournament games leading up to the national semifinals will be played on the campuses of the competing institutions. Sixteen sites will host four teams for first-and second round competition, with second-round winners advancing to the Sweet 16 in two weeks. Winners of the four quarterfinal contests will advance to the Elite Eight, with those winners moving on to the Final Four. Both the Elite Eight and Final Four rounds will be contested in Fort Wayne, Ind. The national championship game will be played on April 5 in Atlanta, Ga.
