How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg started its second time through divisional play in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play with a convincing 99-81 victory over Penn College at the Capital Union Building on Saturday afternoon, Feb. 1.

Zegary Scott III set a new single-game program record with 16 assists to go along with 17 points, while Donyae Baylor-Carroll poured in a game-high 25 points. Nate Curry (16 points, 11 rebounds) and Dylan Daniels (13 points, 11 rebounds) each recorded double-doubles and Pedro Rodriguez was the fifth Blue & White player to reach double digits with 11 points.

The Lions (12-6, 8-1 NEAC) trailed 11-8 in the early going before an 11-0 run that included 3-balls from Curry and Baylor-Carroll and capped by an old-fashioned 3-point play by Scott III put the home team out in front 19-11 at the 13:46 mark of the opening half.

The Wildcats (5-13, 3-6 NEAC) drew to within four points at 29-25 with 5:43 left before halftime and kept the Blue & White from extending the lead to more than seven over the ensuing four minutes until Chris Haynes buried a 3-pointer at the 1:24 mark to push the advantage to 43-34. Rodriguez converted a triple of his own on the team's next possession before Baylor-Carroll knocked down another trey to make it 49-37 at the break.

It was all Penn State Harrisburg early in the second half, as the home team put together a game-changing 23-6 run coming out of the break that was capped off by another Baylor-Carroll 3-ball to make it 72-43 with 13:11 remaining.

The prettiest play of the day came when Scott III came up with a steal and found Baylor-Carroll on the break who followed it up with a brilliant no-look pass to a cutting Rodriguez who finished off the play with a layup to make it 76-49 at the 11:37 mark.

Then it was Baylor-Carroll and Scott III going back-to-back from 3-point territory to stretch the advantage to 31 points with 10:36 left to play. The Wildcats were never able to mount a serious run the rest of the way and the Blue & White closed it out to make it six wins in a row.
