How It Happened

For the second time in as many outings, Penn State Harrisburg had to work until the final buzzer to earn a hard-fought road victory. The Lions held off a late charge at Immaculata, picking up a 91-85 overtime victory over the Mighty Macs on Monday night, Nov. 26.

Four Harrisburg players in Chris Bing, Kahlil Williams, Keenan Wise and Brandon Coleman reached the double-digit scoring mark. Bing led the way with a double-double that included 21 points and 16 rebounds, while Williams just missed out on one of his own with 21 tallies and nine boards. Wise was effective from 3-point range in netting 16 points and Coleman finished with 14.

Leading by as many as 10 points with less than six minutes left in regulation, the Blue & White (5-1) saw their comfortable advantage evaporate in the closing moments thanks to a 16-6 run by Immaculata (2-5) to end the second half.

The home team pulled ahead for the first time all night when Kristopher Bobo knocked down a jumper in the paint early in the extra session but back-to-back 3-pointers by Wise and Coleman halted the IU run and swung the momentum back to Penn State Harrisburg.

Bing took over down the stretch, converting a pretty layup on the baseline while getting fouled before racing out for a two-handed slam in transition off an assist from Donyae Baylor-Carroll with less than a minute left to play. The Mighty Macs were forced to foul but Wise and Williams put the game on ice by combing to convert five free throws in the final moments.

The Lions took a 44-34 advantage into the break after closing out the first half on a 5-0 run. Harrisburg took its largest lead of the night at 18-4 when Wise knocked down a jumper from beyond the arc off a Williams assist at the 13:24 mark.

Inside the Numbers

- The Lions were strong from the field, shooting 50 percent. IU shot 41.4 percent from the floor.

- The Blue & White were solid from beyond the arc, shooting 42.9 percent (9-of-21).

- Penn State Harrisburg scored 42 of its points in the paint.

- The Mighty Macs shot 83.3 percent (10-of-12) from the foul line, while the Lions finished 20-of-30 (66.7 percent) from the charity stripe.

- Harrisburg's bench outscored the Immaculata reserves 36-9.

- The visitors won the rebounding battle by a comfortable 46-29 margin.

- The Lions struggled a bit with turnovers (21), as the home team racked up 21 points off Blue & White miscues.

- Chris Bing turned in one of the best performances of his career, posting a double-double with 21 points and 16 rebounds. He added five assists, two blocks and a steal.  

- Kahlil Williams just missed out on a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. He racked up his point total on an impressive 9-for-11 shooting night.

- Keenan Wise was stellar off the bench, knocking down four 3-pointers en route to netting 16 points.

- Brandon Coleman also provided valuable reserve minutes, posting 14 points, three rebounds and a steal.

- Despite a rough shooting night, Donyae Baylor-Carroll contributed with six points, six assists, five boards and a steal.

- Ibn-Haneef Nelson finished with seven points and two steals.

- Immaculata's Mike Piekarski poured in a game-high 33 points to lead his squad.

Who's Next?

After three weeks of road contests, the Lions return to the friendly confines of the Capital Union Building (CUB) to host Messiah on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 1.
