Buena Vista, VA – Penn State Harrisburg Men's Basketball fell in its road contest matchup against Southern Virginia. Kahlil Williams and Chris Bing led the Lions in scoring with 13 each. Anthony Bennett Jr. add 12 points off the bench.

How it Happened:

Penn State Harrisburg would get off to a slow to start falling behind by six in the early going. The Lions would get a layup inside by Chris Bing to get the offense going. Kahlil would draw foul on a jump shot, making both the shot and foul shot to cut the deficit to one. Anthony Bennett Jr. would block a three-point attempt from the Knights and race down court for a layup to give the Lions their first lead of the game. Minutes later Brandon Coleman would come up with a steal and finish with a big dunk on the other end to complete a 9-0 Harrisburg run. The Lions would draw of couple of fouls and use their sized advantage to build a 10-point advantage with seven minutes remaining in the half. Later in the half, Trent Thomas would find Bennett Jr for a nifty reverse layup giving the Lions an eleven point advantage. The Knights would respond closing the half on a 7-2 run, cutting the Harrisburg lead to six at the half.

 

The Lions would continue dominating inside with strong play by Gbolahan Alliyu and Williams who would build the Lions lead back to 11 early in the second half. Keenan Wise would steal the ball at half court and race down for a layup to give the Lions a twelve point advantage. The Knights would respond going on a 14-2 run, tying the game at 47 with 8:31 left in the game. After falling behind by three, the Lions would get a layup from Williams and two fouls shots from Chris Bing to recapture the lead, 53-52. After a Southern Virginia layup, Wise would hit a three-pointer from the top of the key to give the Lions a two point lead. The Knights would answer recapturing the lead late and hold on for the win.
