St. Mary's Stops the Lions

St. Mary's, Md.- Saturday February 13th, this afternoon the Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team hit the road to take on Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) opponent St. Mary's (Md.). For most of the game the score was tied with each team battling back and forth to regain the lead. Harrisburg held off the Seagulls for most of the game but fell in the final minutes 65-56.

As the game began, it was easy to see both teams wanted to get a W as the season quickly comes to a close. The Lions trailed by three as the first half progressed but the home team's lead was short lived as Arick Sodini (Manalapan, N.J. / St. John Vianney) stepped up to sink his first three of the day. Harrisburg struggled to get points on the board other than free throws for the next few minutes. Kahlil Williams (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) fought through the paint to get the Lions back on the board, 20-17. The Seagulls regained the lead with 5:30 to go. Jazmon Harris (Baltimore, Md. / Patterson) dropped a three pointer to give the Lions the lead back. Williams jumper in the last 20 seconds put Harrisburg one point behind as they headed into halftime.

As the second half progressed, both teams fought to get points on the board while also trying to slow each other down. The Lions held off the home team for the opening ten minutes of the second half. With 8:53 to go, St. Mary's went on a 6-0 run to get ahead of Harrisburg. Harris and Sodini both came up big for Harrisburg with three straight three pointers. With less than three minutes to go, Harrisburg trailed by six. The Lions were able to sink two more baskets but this was not enough to overcome the Seagulls lead.  Two players scored in the double digits for Harrisburg, Harris and Williams both put 12 points on the board.
