Penn State Harrisburg Finds Way to Outlast Knights

Middletown, Pa.- Saturday February 6th, this afternoon the Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team took on the visiting Southern Virginia Knights. The Lions fought throughout the first half for an early lead and continued to dominate throughout the second half, Harrisburg went on to win 65-57.

Heading into the game, Southern Virginia was in fourth place with Harrisburg right behind in fifth among the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC). The Lions were off to a great start thanks to a three from Jazmon Harris (Baltimore, Md. / Patterson) and bucket from teammate Anthony Morgan (York, Pa. / New Hope Academy) in the opening minutes. Harris went on to sink three straight baskets, giving the Lions a nine-point lead on the Knights. Southern Virginia responded with their own four point run in an attempt to tie the game up. With the visitors trailing by one, Clinton Asalu (Willingsboro, N.J / Burlington County) stepped up for a jumper off a beautiful pass from Harris. Harrisburg went on to score 10 more points before the half and led going into halftime 35-27.
 

Harris came out hot in the second half with six points of his own, giving the Lions a ten-point lead. Southern Virginia did not back down and fought back with their own eight point run, bringing the visitors within two points of Harrisburg. Southern Virginia battled back to tie the game up at 48 with 10:20 to go. Kahlil Williams (Philadelphia, Pa. / Central) stepped up for a jumper with to give the Lions the lead back. With only three minutes to go, the Knights regained the lead, 58-56. Harrisburg stood strong and battled back to score seven points in the last two minutes to clinch the win. Harris led for the Lions with 22 points and three rebounds.  

 
Penn State Harrisburg will host Marymount (Va.) on Wednesday February 10th. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 pm.
