No. 9 Newport Too Much For Harrisburg

Newport News, Va.- Saturday January 30th, this afternoon the Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team hit the road to take on nationally ranked Christopher Newport. The Lions struggled to defend Newport who is currently in first place in the conference. Newport went on to win 90-41.

 The Lions went toe-to-toe with the Captains in the opening minutes of the first half. Jourdon Wilson (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) sunk two straight jump shots to tie the game up in the first two minutes. Just a few seconds later, Winton Lyle (Washington, D.C / The Bullis) hit his first bucket of the day to put Harrisburg within two of the home team. Austin Chimuma (Bowie, Md. / Annapolis Area Christian) drove to the basket to bring Harrisburg six points behind Newport at 14-8. The Captains went on an eight point run to before Anthony Morgan (York, Pa. / New Hope Academy) stepped up to hit two free throws for Harrisburg. The Lions struggled to slow down Newport who led at halftime 50-19. The second half proved to be just as difficult for the Lions. Newport's defense only allowed the Lions to score 22 points, 18 of the 22 points were free throws. Lyle went on to lead the team with 8 points.
 
Penn State Harrisburg will host Salisbury on Monday for an important conference game. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 pm.
