Lions Fall in Last Minute to York (Pa.)

Middletown, Pa.- Wednesday January 27th, tonight the Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team took on fellow Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) opponent, York (Pa) College. The Lions dominated the first half followed by both teams battling back and forth throughout the second half. The Spartans were able to get the last basket, defeating Harrisburg, 54-52.

Harrisburg started the game on a 5-0 stretch thanks to jumpers from Arick Sodini (Manalapan, N.J. / St. John Vianney) and Jazmon Harris (Baltimore, Md. / Patterson). Throughout the first ten minutes of the game, both teams struggled to find the basket, with Harrisburg leading 6-2, for the first nine minutes. As the second half progressed, York went on a five point run, with six minutes to go but Harrisburg stood strong. The Lions responded with their own four point run, led by Harris. Harrisburg led, 25-16, going in to halftime.

York started the second off quick with a nine point run to catch up to Harrisburg's lead. Marquese Daniels (Philadelphia, Pa. / Philadelphia Electric and Technology Charter) hit a bucket to stop York's momentum. With less than ten minutes to go, both teams battled back and forth for the lead. Throughout the last ten minutes of play, there were eight lead changes between both teams. With only three minutes to go, Harrisburg trailed by five. Anthony Morgan (York, Pa. / New Hope Academy) stole the ball from the Spartans and finished a jumper to tie the game up at 47. As the clock counted down to 10.2 seconds, Harris stepped up to sink a three to tie the game. Unfortunately, York was able to get a foul and went on to make both foul shots to win the game. Harris led for the Lions with 12 points.

Harrisburg will travel to Christopher Newport on Saturday January 30. The Lions will take on Newport, currently in first place, at 4 pm.
