De Los Santos Scores Season High in Loss to CAC’s top ranked Marymount

Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg took on the Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) frontrunner, Marymount University Wednesday January 21st at the Capital Union Building.  The Blue and White battled punch for punch with the Saints for the majority of the game but couldn't pull off the upset as they let Marymount pull away late to win 82-63.

It may have been snowing outside, but it was raining three's inside the CUB.  Penn State Harrisburg attempted to stun Marymount and get an early lead on the Saints.  Their early game plan worked, the Lions took a 10-0 lead just five minutes into the game.  The Saints awoke from their early start and rallied with a 13-2 run of their own to take the lead just 3 minutes later.  Marymount found their groove and began capitalizing on turnovers and missed shots by the Lions to stretch their lead to eleven heading into the break.

The Blue and White started out the second half much like they did in the first.  They played tremendous defense and saw their efforts pay off at the offensive end.  The Lions battled all the way back to tie the game at 50 with nine minutes remaining in the second half.  Unfortunately, this is when Harrisburg ran out of gas.  Marymount ended the game on a 32-13 run to close out Penn State Harrisburg and pick up their 14th win of the season 82-63.

Senior guard Alberto De Los Santos (East Pennsboro, Pa. / East Pennsboro) led the way for the Blue and White dropping 21 points and 3 assists.  Sharpshooter Caleb Barwin (Harrisburg, Pa / Bishop McDevitt) chipped in with 12 of his own, all coming from beyond the arc.

Penn State Harrisburg will attempt to turn things around when they welcome CAC foe Salisbury to town Saturday January 24th at 3pm.
