Lions Lose on Buzzer in OT to York

Middletown, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team faced off against nearby rival York College Wednesday December 3rd.  Both teams came into the contest without a win and it was easy to tell that neither team wanted to leave the gym tonight in the same predicament.

The first half stayed tight throughout most of the first 10 minutes until the Lions gained an edge thanks to a 12-0 run that included back to back jumpers from Arick Sodini (Manalapan, Nj. / St. John Vianney).  Harrisburg went into the half up 26-18.

Both teams fought valiantly throughout the second half.  The Lions spread the ball around nicely with seven different players adding to their tally.  Unfortunately for the Lions, despite being ahead for the majority of the game, we were deadlocked at 48 for the final minute.  The Blue and White's Alberto De Los Santos (East Pennsboro, Pa. / East Pennsboro) just missed a three to win it on the buzzer which sent both teams to overtime.

In the overtime period, Harrisburg held a four point lead with 34 seconds to play setting up the dramatic finish.  York converted an old fashioned three point play to bring the score within one, followed by the Lions missing two consecutive front ends of one and one's.  The Spartans rebounded the second miss with only 6.4 seconds remaining, took the ball to the end line and dished out a desperation pass which gave Tyler Alcid a game winning deep two.

Penn State Harrisburg will have to regroup and continue to push on looking for their first win this Saturday when they travel to play Salisbury University.
