Doyle Earns CAC All-Conference Honors

YORK, Pa. – It was announced on Monday afternoon, Mar. 3 that Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball player Will Doyle (Franklin, Va. / Tidewater Academy) was named a Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) second-team all-conference selection thanks to his stellar play during the 2013-14 campaign.  Doyle is the school's first-ever all-CAC honoree.

The senior captain was the Lions' leading-scorer this past season and averaged 15.1 points per game, good enough to rank him sixth among CAC players.  He also led the Blue & White in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.4) and assists per contest (3.2); both numbers were strong enough to rank him top ten among league players.  His shooting percentage from the free throw line (83 percent) was tops among Penn State Harrisburg players and ranked him ninth in the CAC.

The man from Virginia capped his three-year Penn State Harrisburg career by turning in plenty of memorable performances during his senior season, including a 40-point outing against Southern Vermont last December; the highest-single game point-total since the school began NCAA play.  Doyle also hit the shot that will define his career at Penn State Harrisburg against 14th-ranked Christopher Newport in January.  His buzzer-beating three-ball tied the score and sent the game into overtime; a contest the Lions won to earn the program's first victory over a nationally-ranked opponent. He finished his tenure with the Blue & White with 900 total points, good enough to rank him fourth on the school's all-time list, and earned a share of the program record for career three-point field goals made with 157.

"Will represents everything I believe in as a coach," said Penn State Harrisburg head coach Don Friday.  "I'm privileged to have coached him this season.  He has left a footprint on our program and has set the tone for our future."

Wesley senior center David Langan was named the 2013-14 CAC Player of the Year while Salisbury freshman guard Gordon Jeter was voted the league's Rookie of the Year.  Wesley front man Jerry Kobasa was named the conference's 2013-14 "Jeff Gamber" Coach of the Year.
