Penn State Harrisburg Improves to 9-2 In NEAC Play

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball team sneaked out a win over the visiting SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers in Sunday's NEAC contest. In their second nail-biter of the weekend, the Lions overcame a late deficit to earn their ninth conference win of the season, 76-64. Kenton Alston (Harrisburg, PA/Steel High) led all Penn State Harrisburg scorers with 21 points.

SUNY Cobleskill started the game with a 9-2 lead in the first five minutes but the Nittany Lions responded with a 23-2 run over the next eight minute stretch. David Reisinger (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) paced the Lions with his versatile scoring skills, knocking in three-pointers and taking the ball to the post. Reisinger finished the game with 17 points, shooting 3-for-6 from the three-point line.

The second half saw numerous lead changes as the Lions struggled to gain the advantage. SUNY Cobleskill kept the game close by out-rebounding the Lions 40-27. In the end, the Lions defense was too much for the Tigers as they forced 22 turnovers and scored 15 points off of turnovers.

Kenny Stone (Philadelphia, PA/Scotland School) provided a strong post presence offensively and defensively for the Lions. Stone recorded 12 points, 7 rebounds and three blocks. Nick Liddell (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) added 14 points and Jordan Gatchell (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) contributed 10 points and 8 assists in the Lions fourth consecutive conference win.

Damon Franklin recorded 21 points for the Tigers and Brendan Doherty added 11. Damion Longmore grabbed 12 rebounds and knocked in eight points as the Tigers fell to 6-10.

The Nittany Lions will host non-conference opponent Rutgers-Camden on Wednesday, January 26th at 7:00PM.
