Season Highs Power Harrisburg Past Wildcats

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Four Nittany Lions hit season-high marks in a win over conference opponent Cazenovia College Sunday, January 24th at the Capital Union Building, 101-83.

The first half would feature a rough start for both teams with the Nittany Lions up by one, 27-26, with 8:30 remaining. The blue and white would go on a 20-3 run in a four minute span with five Nittany Lions scoring at least two points. The Wildcats would claw back to bring the deficit to ten, 51-41, going into halftime.

In the early minutes of the second half the Wildcats would close within four off a Cameron Smith three-pointer but Harrisburg´s offense would continue their excellent shooting with a 51.5 shooting percentage to close out the half.

Freshman guard Steven Jones (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) hit a career-high 30 points to lead the blue and white adding seven assists, six rebounds and three steals. Kenton Alston (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire)grabbed a season-high 17 rebounds with 20 points and two blocks. Jordan Gatchell (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) scored a career-high 17 points going 4-for-4 from beyond the arc. Shane Woodman (Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) would also tail a season-high 14 points going 4-for-8 from behind arc.

Coming off the bench, Smith finished with 24 points going 4-for5 from behind the three point line adding seven rebounds and four assists. Matt Phillips, Bryant Winans and Darnell Sampson also reached double digits in the Wildcat lose.

 

The Nittany Lions will host Penn State Abington Wednesday, January 24th at the Capital Union Building. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 P.M.
