Nittany Lions Drop Close Decision

 

MIDDLETOWN, PA - The Penn State Harrisburg men´s basketball team lost their third straight game Tuesday, December 1st against the visiting Patriots of Valley Forge Christian College, 88-84, at the Capital Union Building.

The Nittany Lions came out flat, allowing the Patriots to jump out to a quick 14-6 lead within the first five minutes of play. With both teams struggling offensively, it was the blue and white taking full advantage of the Valley Forge turnovers, tying the game at 25-25 from a Kenny Stone (Philadelphia, PA/Scotland) layup assisted by Kenton Alston (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire).

From that point, both teams put on a remarkable offensive display scoring on numerous occasions, inflating the score to a 43-39 Penn State Harrisburg lead at halftime in just a six minute span.

The second half would feature six ties and five lead changes before Valley Forge´s Kody Koser sealed the deal with two free throws to put them up by four with three seconds remaining handing the Nittany Lions the, 88-84, defeat.

Freshman Steve Jones (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) led the Nittany Lions with 25 points off 10-of-20 shooting as well as collecting nine rebounds and four steals in 27 minutes. Alston led the blue and white with 17 rebounds and six blocks. Alston also tailed 20 points, four assists and three steals. Sophomore Brian Ongeri (Hershey, PA/Hershey) put forth 14 points and four rebounds in the losing effort.

 

 

The Nittany Lions will host the Fighting Tigers of SUNY Cobleskill this Saturday, December 5th at the Capital Union Building. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:00 P.M.
