Strong Second Half Lifts Nittany Lions Pass Schuylkill

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Sophomore Kenton Alston(Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) posted a career-high 33 points with the Penn State Harrisburg men´s basketball team outscoring visiting Penn State Schuylkill by 21 in the second half to collect an 89-73 victory Wednesday evening at the Capital Union Building.

 

Alston and the Nittany Lions came out with the early 8-0 run in the first three minutes of play with Alston collecting every point to energize his team. The visiting Lions clawed back into the game, tying it at 12 with 12:22 remaining in the first half.

The Nittany Lions were able to increase their lead back to eight just before Penn State Schuylkill went on a 21-8 run to finish out the half to put them up by five.

In the second half, it was all Nittany Lions with eight players contributing to the 55 points accumulated by the blue and white in the second half.

Three other players joined Alston in double figures, freshman Jordan Gatchell (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central)with 14 points, sophomore Brian Ongeri (Hershey, PA/Hershey) with 13 points and junior Shane Woodman(Mount Joy, PA/Donegal) with 10 points. Gatchell collected a team-high nine rebounds with Alston collecting seven. Senior Cole McGuire (Duncannon, PA/Susquenita) led the team with nine assists.

 

Harrisburg (1-0) will travel to play in the Lebanon Valley Tournament were they will face off against the host team Saturday, November 21st at 8:00 P.M.
