Alston Powers Nittany Lions Pass Mustangs

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Hot shooting from sophomore Kenton Alston (Steelton, PA/Steelton-Highspire) leads the Nittany Lions past visiting Morrisville State College, 83-69, Saturday, January 23rd at the Capital Union Building.

Aggressive defense from Penn State Harrisburg would force the Mustangs into 14 turnovers and to shoot the ball 29 percent from the field, 0-for-13 from behind the arc, in the first half. Combined with 17 points from Alston, the Nittany Lions would seize the 36-22 halftime lead.

With 4:28 remaining in the second half, Morrisville State would close within nine coming off the three-point shot from Kyle Gordon, but Harrisburg would close out the game with a 16-11 run to ensure the victory.

Alston would finish with a game high 28 points, shooting 12-for-19 from the field, adding eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and three blocks. This is the 6th time Alston has score 20 plus points on the season, 15th in his career. Jordan Gathchall (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) collected his first career double-double with 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Steven Jones (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) and Brain Ongeri (Hershey, PA/Hershey) would each contribute 13 points and 10 points respectively.

Bryan Eddy led the Mustangs with 15 points and 10 rebounds going 5-for-8 from the field. Gordon finished with 14 points going 2-for-12 from behind the arc. Hodges Sneed tailed 12 points off 6-of-10 shooting.
