MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg field hockey head coach AJ Misselhorn has announced that former Millersville standout Erica (Tarsi) Metz will be joining the coaching staff as the program prepares for its first season of NCAA competition in 2024.

Most recently, Metz served as an assistant coach for multiple seasons at Manheim Central High School after a stint as a volunteer assistant at Millersville. She has also served as a youth coach at Viper Sports in Limerick, Pa.

"Erica brings with her a wealth of field hockey knowledge that will enhance our new program," said Misselhorn. "Her competitiveness, attacking mindset, and love of the game will be a great example for our student-athletes. I'm excited for her to start working with our team this spring."

One of the most decorated players in program history, Metz compiled an illustrious four-year career at Millersville and helped lead the Marauders to a pair of NCAA Division II Championship Tournament Semifinal appearances and a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championship in 2016.

Individually, Metz was one of just two Millersville players in program history to earn three first-team all-America nods as she was named to the NFHCA/Longstreth All-America First Team three straight seasons from 2017 to 2019. She also collected a Synapse Sports All-America First-Team plaudit as a senior after being named to the organization's all-America second team following her junior campaign. Metz completed her career ranked third in program history with 40 goals scored and 100 total points.

After starring as a two-sport athlete in field hockey and track & field at Easton Area High School, Metz graduated from Millersville as a Business Administration major with a concentration in Management in 2020.

Penn State Harrisburg's 17th varsity intercollegiate athletic program, the field hockey team will begin NCAA Division III play in the fall of 2024. The program's inaugural schedule will be released later this year.
