Irizarry, Eden Sweep Conference Weekly Honors

carlos irizarry and danny eden named united east players of the week

LATHAM, N.Y. - A pair of Penn State Harrisburg baseball players have swept the United East Volt Division weekly awards, with Danny Eden being tabbed the conference's pitcher of the week for the second straight time, while Carlos Irizarry was named the league's player of the week.

Eden's honor is his second in as many weeks, while Irizarry's is his first weekly accolade of the season.

Eden improved to 4-1 on the spring after turning in another quality start in a win at Lancaster Bible on Friday afternoon. The junior threw 5.1 innings and allowed just one earned run on three hits and one walk to go along with seven strikeouts.

Irizarry slashed .538/.647/.769 with a 1.416 OPS across the five games, scoring seven runs and driving in six more with a home run, a triple, a double, three walks, and a pair of stolen bases. He homered in the team's victory over Lancaster Bible on Friday afternoon before capping the week with a 3-for-3 performance that saw him finish a home run shy of the cycle in another win over the Chargers on Saturday.

The Lions (22-7) host Lebanon Valley for another key non-conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon.
