Baseball to Host No. 2 Salisbury For NCAA Regional Series

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - For the first time in program history, Penn State Harrisburg baseball will host the Regional Round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament. The Lions will host No. 2 Salisbury for a best-of-five series beginning on Friday afternoon, May 19.

 

Fresh off winning a third straight United East Championship and sporting a 33-10 overall record, Penn State Harrisburg will appear in the national tournament for the fourth consecutive season and fifth time overall. The Lions are set to host one of the nation's top programs in a Salisbury squad that won the 2021 NCAA Division III National Championship and finished as the national runner-up last spring. The Sea Gulls (30-5) won their third consecutive Coast-to-Coast (C2C) Championship last weekend and will be making their 23rd straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.

 

The regional series is scheduled for May 19-21, with game one set for Friday at 12 p.m. Game two is scheduled for Saturday morning at 10 a.m. with game three set to begin 45 minutes after the conclusion of the second contest. If necessary, game four will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday morning with the fifth and final contest scheduled to begin 45 minutes after game four ends. Weekend passes will be sold on-site for $10 each for access to all five games throughout the weekend. All ticket sales are cash only.

 

In total, 16 sites will serve as regional venues for the 2023 NCAA Tournament, with 14 of them hosting four teams and two others hosting a pair of teams for double-elimination competition. The winners of each regional will advance to the super regional round scheduled for next weekend at sites to be determined. The eight winners of the super regionals advance to the Division III College World Series, held at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

 

The Lions will begin their series with Salisbury on Friday afternoon, May 19. First pitch is set for 12 p.m.
