MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - A nine-run top of the first inning for Mary Washington proved the difference in Penn State Harrisburg's 16-7 setback in the team's regular-season finale on Monday afternoon, May 8.

Lucas Floyd went 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, while Kevin Lehner finished 2-for-4 with a solo shot and a pair of RBI. Brendan Henn was the team's third player to have a multi-hit outing. Simeon Davis and Joel Sneeringer each threw a scoreless inning of relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Mary Washington (27-13) used six hits, including a pair of home runs, and five free bases to put up nine first-inning runs in a 16-7 win over Penn State Harrisburg (30-10) on Monday afternoon. The Lions chipped away throughout the game but were unable to dig themselves out of the early hole.

Lehner and Carlos Irizarry each drove in a run in the bottom of the first with RBI singles and Floyd and Lehner added solo home runs in the second and third innings, respectively, to cut the deficit to five heading into the fourth frame.

The Lions were unable to take advantage of a leadoff walk in the fourth and the Eagles responded with a solo shot in the top of the fifth. Maddux Ryan answered back with a solo home run of his own in the bottom of the fifth but that's as close as the home team would come to mounting a comeback.

A three-run home run highlighted UMW's four-run eighth inning and despite Floyd driving in two more runs in the bottom of the stanza, the Lions were unable to make things interesting in the final frames.
