Baseball Holds No. 2 Position In Latest NCAA Regional Rankings

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The NCAA released its latest Division III Baseball Regional Rankings on Wednesday, with Penn State Harrisburg securing the No. 2 position in Region IV.

 

The Lions (30-8) hold the runner-up spot behind the region's top-ranked team in nationally-ranked Rowan. Arcadia is ranked third in Region IV, followed by nationally-ranked Misericordia, Montclair State, and Kean. 

 

Penn State Harrisburg also received votes in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 and ABCA/Collegiate Baseball National Polls. The Lions have won five games against nationally-ranked opponents this season, defeating Arcadia (twice), Randolph-Macon, Rowan, and Salisbury so far this spring. 

 

As a group, Penn State Harrisburg ranks top-10 in the nation in numerous statistical categories, including runs (404), batting average (.360), hits (484), scoring (10.6), slugging percentage (.544), walks (216), and on-base percentage (.453). 

 

Individually, three players in Maddux Ryan (twice), Kevin Lehner, and Dallas Hite have earned United East Player of the Week honors, while three others in Hunter Merritt (twice), Danny Eden, and Fisher Druck have been named United East Pitcher of the Week. Lehner was also named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week last month.

 

The Lions are set to close out the regular season with a single game at United East rival Penn State Abington on Friday afternoon.
