INDIANAPOLIS – Penn State Harrisburg earned a spot in the first set of NCAA Division III Baseball Regional Rankings, released on Wednesday.

The Lions (28-8) were included in the initial Region IV rankings, along with Arcadia, Kean, Misericordia, Montclair State, and Rowan. The first set of NCAA Regional Rankings is listed alphabetically. Teams will be ranked for the first time when the second set of rankings is unveiled next week.

Penn State Harrisburg also received votes in the latest D3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 Poll. The Lions have won five games against nationally-ranked opponents this season, defeating Arcadia (twice), Randolph-Macon, Rowan, and Salisbury so far this spring.

As a group, Penn State Harrisburg ranks second in nation in runs (383) and ranks top-10 in the country in a number of other statistical categories, including hits (461), batting average (.361), scoring (10.6), slugging percentage (.548), walks (205), and on-base percentage (.454).

Individually, three players in Maddux Ryan (twice), Kevin Lehner, and Dallas Hite have earned United East Player of the Week honors, while three others in Hunter Merritt (twice), Danny Eden, and Fisher Druck have been named United East Pitcher of the Week. Lehner was also named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week earlier this month.

The Lions begin their final series of the regular season with a doubleheader at United East rival Penn State Abington on Thursday afternoon.
