lucas floyd loads up to swing during a win over penn college in 2023

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - In a matchup of teams receiving votes in the latest d3baseball.com/NCBWA Top 25 Poll, Penn State Harrisburg was edged 7-6 at Elizabethtown on Tuesday afternoon, April 25.

Lucas Floyd was the lone Penn State Harrisburg player to have a multi-hit outing, as he finished with a pair of doubles and two RBI. Maddux Ryan also drove in a pair of runs, while Matt Parks walked three times.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (28-8) struggled to come up with the hits needed to drive in runners in scoring position, as the Lions stranded six during Tuesday's narrow setback at Elizabethtown (27-7).

The Lions failed to record a hit through the first three innings before using four hits, three walks, and a hit by pitch to break through in the top of the fourth and plate six runs. Ryan singled to center field with the bases loaded to get the visitors on the board and Floyd drove in a pair with a double to right center field.

After falling behind for the first time, the Blue Jays cut the deficit to one with a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth. Penn State Harrisburg had chances to answer back in the sixth but stranded runners at second and third before leaving another at second in both the seventh and eighth frames.

Etown eventually drew even with an RBI double in the bottom of the ninth before escaping with the slim victory thanks to a two-out, bases-loaded walk.

NOTABLES
