MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's baseball team completed the series sweep of conference foe Gallaudet by winning both ends of a United East doubleheader on Sunday afternoon, April 2. The Lions took game one 9-2 before closing out the weekend with a 10-5 victory in the nightcap.

GAME 1

Penn State Harrisburg (17-5, 8-0 United East) used a big fourth inning to overcome an early deficit and pull away to a 9-2 win over Gallaudet (7-19, 1-7 United East) in Sunday's first contest.

Kevin Lehner and Josh Lantz had multi-hit outings, with Lehner doubling and each player scoring a run and driving in another. Brendan Henn and Drew Bechtold each doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Danny Eden struck out seven batters and got the win on the rubber after allowing just two runs in five innings of work.

With things tied 2-2 in the fourth, the Lions used seven hits and took advantage of two Gallaudet errors to put up seven runs in the bottom half and put things out of reach. Dallas Hite, Henn, and Blaine Waltimyer each doubled in the frame.

GAME 2

Penn State Harrisburg (18-5, 9-0 United East) overcame a slow start and scored eight runs late in the game to defeat Gallaudet (7-20, 1-8 United East) in Sunday's finale and complete the weekend sweep.

Brendan Henn and Blaine Waltimyer drove in two runs apiece. Henn and Kevin Lehner each homered, while Lucas Floyd doubled twice. Simeon Davis was strong in relief and Joel Sneeringer picked up the win out of the bullpen.

The Bison jumped out to a 4-0 lead and held a three-run advantage heading into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Lions took advantage of a lead-off single and back-to-back walks before Carlos Irizarry gave the home team the lead for the first time with an RBI double to center field. He eventually scored on a wild pitch to give Penn State Harrisburg a 7-5 lead after seven.

Kevin Maiolo stranded runners on the corner in the top of the eighth and the Lions got some insurance in the bottom half when Henn hit a two-run bomb and Lehner added a solo shot to push the advantage to five. Nick Fitzgerald came on in relief in the top of the ninth and the visitors left them loaded to end the game.
