Baseball Receives Votes In Final ABCA National Poll

GREENSBORO, N.C. - For the second time in as many years, Penn State Harrisburg's baseball team ended the season receiving votes in the national rankings.  

 

Penn State Harrisburg (30-17) received a pair votes in the season's final American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Collegiate Baseball Poll after making a third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament and capturing the program's second straight United East Championship this spring. The most-recent 30-win campaign was the program's third in the last four years.

 

As a team, head coach Ryan Bown's squad ranked top-10 in the nation in walks (280) and stolen bases (123), as well as top-25 in the country in strikeouts per nine innings (10.0), on-base percentage (.437), runs (431), hit by pitches (88), scoring (9.2), and home runs (53).  

 

Numerous individuals were also recognized for their efforts this season, led by CoSIDA Academic All-America First-Team honors for Drew Harshbarger, along with ABCA/Rawlings and D3baseball.com All-Region First-Team accolades for United East Pitcher of the Year Zach Gettys. Harshbarger joined Dallas Hite, Kevin Lehner, and Matt Parks on the ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team, while Chase Smith secured ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Third-Team recognition. Hite and Parks also received second-team all-region honors from D3baseball.com.
