Hite Makes History In Opening Game of Conference Tournament

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Dallas Hite joined an elite group of Division III sluggers during Penn State Harrisburg baseball's 18-4 victory over Penn College in the opening contest of the United East Championship Tournament on Monday afternoon, May 9.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The bats were out in full force for Penn State Harrisburg (27-14) during the team's 18-4 victory over Penn College (20-17) in the first matchup of the United East Championship Tournament on Monday afternoon.

Dallas Hite had an offensive performance for the ages, going 4-for-5 with three home runs, including a pair of grand slams, and a program-record 10 RBI. He joined just 13 players in NCAA Division III history to hit two grand slams in a single game. Zach Gettys earned his ninth win of the season on the mound, striking out 11 batters in just five innings thrown.

Hite got the scoring started with a solo home run in the bottom of the first before Ryan's single up the middle plated Matt Parks from second base to make it 2-0 after one. Hite stayed hot and hit his first grand slam of the day in the ensuing frame to stretch the advantage to 6-0.

The Wildcats got on the board with a solo home run in the third but the Lions roared back with seven in the fourth, capped by Hite's historic second grand slam of the game. He drove in his 10th run of the contest with an RBI single in the fifth and a Parks single plated Julian Belardo to make it 16-1.

Kevin Lehner accounted for the final two runs for the Blue & White, driving in Chase Smith with a sacrifice fly in the fifth before his single up the middle in the seventh pushed Belardo across.
