Baseball Tops LBC, Extends Win Streak to 10 Games

LANCASTER, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's baseball team topped United East foe Lancaster Bible 7-3 in the first outing of a three-game weekend series on Friday afternoon to extend the recent win streak to 10 in a row.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (20-14, 14-2 United East) scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never trailed in a 7-3 victory over conference foe Lancaster Bible (15-17, 10-6 United East) on Friday afternoon.

Matt Parks stayed hot, hitting his third home run in the last two games. Kevin Lehner also went yard, hitting a two-run shot in the top of the fifth. Drew Harshbarger earned his fourth win of the year on the bump, going 6.2 innings without allowing a single earned run. Tyler Stabley got the final six outs, recording his first save of the season in the process.

The Lions wasted little time getting on the board, as Parks went yard in the top of the first and brought Chase Smith around with him. Before the half inning was through, a Lancaster Bible error allowed Lehner to come across and extend the early lead to 3-0.

Lehner got into the home run act in the top of the fifth when he launched a two-run shot over the fence in right center to make it 5-0. Robbie Skinner drove in an insurance run in the top of the sixth thanks to a double to left center that plated Drew Sassaman.

The Chargers finally broke through in the bottom of the seventh, using three hits, two walks, and an error to score three unearned runs. The Blue & White tacked on one more in the top of the ninth when Smith came across on a Sassaman ground ball and Stabley shut the door in the bottom of the final frame.
