Williams Named CoSIDA Academic All-District

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg baseball player Bret Williams has been named Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

For Williams, it is his second consecutive academic all-district accolade after achieving the same feat last spring. He joined 11 other players from the state of Pennsylvania as honorees from CoSIDA's NCAA Division III District 4.

This season, Williams was named a First-Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings and D3baseball.com. He was named the Mid-Atlantic Regional Player of the Year by both organizations and he earned a spot on the all-region first teams of both groups. He was also tabbed the North Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year (NEAC) after earning first-team all-conference recognition.

The senior put up incredible numbers in 2021. His 43 walks were the second-most in the nation, while his 17 homers and 66 RBI were fourth-best among Division III players. The outfielder slashed an outstanding .450/.586/.915 with a stellar 1.501 OPS, with both his slugging and on-base percentages ranking top-five in the country. The Mount Carmel, Pa. native racked up 58 hits, including seven doubles and a triple, 118 total bases, 55 runs, and 16 stolen bases. He was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week three times this spring (3/23, 4/13, 5/11) and was tabbed the NEAC Player of the Week in mid-April (4/12). Thanks to his impressive postseason play, he was named the NEAC Championship Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) last month.

Williams recently completed his collegiate career as one of the most successful players in NCAA Division III history, ranking second all-time in total bases (548), tied for fourth all-time in home runs (63), fifth all-time in runs batted in (250), tied for fifth all-time in hits (290), and sixth all-time in runs scored (232).

A Security and Risk Analysis major, Williams has also been consistent in the classroom, having been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team last spring after earning his first CoSIDA Academic All-District honor in 2020.
