Hite, Fleisher Earn Conference Weekly Awards

LATHAM, N.Y. – A pair of Penn State Harrisburg student-athletes have earned conference weekly award recognition. Dallas Hite has been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Baseball Player of the Week, while Courtney Fleisher earned NEAC Softball Player of the Week honors.

 

Hite joins teammates Zach Gettys, Drew Harshbarger, and Bret Williams as baseball players to earn the league's weekly award this season, while Fleisher joins teammate Steph Reider as the second softball to be recognized by the conference this spring.

 

Hite recorded at least one hit in all six games last week. The junior racked up 14 total hits, including six extra-base knocks, in series against Lancaster Bible, Wells, and Penn State Abington. The Lilly, Pa. native homered during each doubleheader, adding a grand slam in a win over the Chargers. For the week, the outfielder slashed .483/.500/.931 with three home runs, a triple, two doubles, 12 RBI, 10 runs scored, four stolen bases, and an OPS of 1.431.

 

Fleisher was strong at the plate all week, helping the Blue & White win three out of four contests. The lead-off hitter racked up nine total hits in series against Morrisville State and Penn College, including a grand slam in a victory over the Mustangs. For the week, the Newport, Pa. native hit .642 with a 1.071 slugging percentage to go along with nine runs scored and eight RBI. Fleisher was also impressive in the circle, recording two wins and a dozen strikeouts over 13.1 innings of work.

 

Baseball is set to host a semifinal series in the upcoming NEAC Tournament this weekend, while softball will travel for its postseason tournament semifinal series beginning Sunday. Official dates and opponents will be announced later this week.
