How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg wrapped up a three-game sweep of Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) foe Frostburg State with a 14-7 victory on Sunday afternoon, April 28. The most recent win's run total brought the Lions' tally to 50 for the weekend.

Zachary Koroneos and Travis Van Houten led the way by driving in four runs apiece. Koroneos hit a pair of doubles, while Van Houten homered in the ninth inning. Tyler Aug also homered, while Chase Smith, Bret Williams and Ryan McSorley had multi-hit outings.

The Blue & White (28-10-1, 14-7 CAC) got on the board in the top of the first when Ryan McSorley's single to shortstop allowed Williams and Van Houten to score. Aug got into the scoring act when he hit a solo home run over the fence in left field to push the lead to 3-0 midway through the second inning.

The Bobcats cut the deficit to two with a home run in the bottom of the second but the top of the fourth saw the visitors create some breathing room after putting up a five spot on three hits and a pair of Frostburg errors.

FSU made a push in the fifth thanks to four runs but back-to-back RBI singles from Koroneos and Jackson Struve in the sixth and a Van Houten RBI groundout in the seventh stretched the Penn State Harrisburg lead back to six. The home team got one back in the eighth but Van Houten's two-runs shot combined with Koroneos' second RBI double of the game put things out of reach for good in the top of the ninth.
