Harrisburg Falls on the Road to Elizabethtown

Elizabethtown, Pa.- After a big win this weekend against Mary Washington, the Penn State Harrisburg baseball team looked to get their second straight win against non-conference opponent Elizabethtown. The Blue Jays grabbed an early lead and went on to win 11-7.

The Blue Jay's jumped out to an early lead, bringing home seven runs after the first five innings. Freshman Blake Reiff (Manheim, Pa. / Manheim Central) got the Lion's on the board first advancing to third base as Will Quiles (Tamiment, Pa. / East Stroudsburg North) scored on a wild pitch. Reiff added to Harrisburg's tally once again off of a single from Ethan Kell (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area), Kell scored next at bat on a passed ball.
 

In the eighth inning, the home team added four more runs, all four runs were a result of errors committed by Harrisburg. Harrisburg found their stride in the final inning where they went on to score four additional runs. Jared Smith (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cedar Cliff) started the Lion's run with a double to left field, advancing Scott Angstadt Jr. (Jarrettsville, Md. / North Harford) to home. Brett Arney (Pheonixville, Pa. / Pheonixville Area) and Connor Bowers (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal) each singled for Harrisburg's final runs of the afternoon.

 

Harrisburg will host Marymount (Va.) tomorrow, Wednesday March 30th. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 pm.
