Blue and White Split to the Knights

Middletown, Pa.- After a difficult loss to Elmira on Friday afternoon, the Penn State Harrisburg baseball team looked to get a much needed win today against Southern Virginia. The Lion's won the first match up 4-3 but fell in the second game, 3-0.

The Lion's went down 2-0 in top of the first but responded with their own run at the bottom of the inning. Kevin Kremer (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) grounded out to the short stop as Tom Denniston (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) advanced home. Harrisburg snagged two more runs in the second off of two errors by the visitors. With bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth, Will Quiles (Tamiment, Pa. / East Stroudsburg North) reached first on a fielder's choice while Connor Bowers (Mount Joy, Pa. / Donegal) was thrown out at second, and Quiles received an RBI on the play, driving Denniston to home for their last run of the day.

Mark Artley (Milton, Pa. / Milton Area) pitched the first eight innings for the Lions, allowing only three runs and five hits. Artley struck out ten batters before Brendan Riotto (Exton, Pa. / Bishop Shanahan) came in for the last inning, grabbing his first save of the year. In today's second match up, Harrisburg struggled at bat with only six hits. The Knights were able to bring three runs home to grab the win.
