Lion's Fall in Final Spring Break Game

Lion's Fall in Final Spring Break Game

Lexington, Va.- The Penn State Harrisburg baseball team faced non-conference opponent Washington and Lee this afternoon to finish out their annual spring break trip. The Lion's dominated the first inning with an early 5-0 lead. The Generals made their own surge in the sixth inning and went on to win, 11-10.

The Lion's took an early 5-0 lead in the first inning without registering a hit. Washington and Lee's starting pitcher and sophomore reliever combined to walk the first seven batters of the game. Harrisburg's final run in the first came off of a sacrifice fly. At the top of the sixth, Harrisburg brought in two runs off of a single to first base by Tom Denniston (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) and a single to left field from Will Quiles (Tamiment, Pa. / East Stroudsburg North). The Generals led by the end of the sixth after a six-run inning due to several pitching changes.

In the seventh, Harrisburg regained the lead on a RBI single from Scott Angstadt Jr. (Jarrettsville, Md. / North Harford) and a sacrifice fly by Denniston.  Heading into the bottom of the eight, both teams were tied up at 10. Washington and Lee lined a single to the right center to give the home team an 11-10 lead.

The Lion's will return to Harrisburg with three wins and three losses.  Harrisburg will host Frostburg State on Saturday March 12th for their second conference matchup of the season.  The Lion's will face Frostburg in a double header at 12 and 2 pm.
