Harrisburg Drops Two to Averett

Danville, Va.- The Penn State Harrisburg baseball team faced off with Averett this afternoon for the second day of their spring break trip. The Lions came up short in both games, falling, 8-5 and 3-2.

Penn State Harrisburg came out strong in the first inning as Chris Iocca (North Brunswick, N.J. / N. Brunswick Twp) doubled at bat first for the Lions. Teammate Kevin Kremer (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) followed in his footsteps with his first RBI single of the day. The Lions's added two more runs to the scoreboard as they capitalized off of two wild pitches from Averett. After a scoreless second inning, Averett came back by scoring five of their eight runs in the bottom of the third. Harrisburg was unable to overcome the Cougar's third inning surge, falling 8-3.
 

In the second match up, both teams struggled to get on the scoreboard. Averett jumped out first, with two runs in the second inning. Tom Denniston (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) grounded out to short stop at the top of the fifth for the Lion's first run of the day. In the seventh inning, Denniston grounded out again to second base for Harrisburg's final run. Kremer led for Harrisburg with a combined total of three hits and two RBI's. Denniston was close behind with three hits and two RBI's.

 
Penn State Harrisburg will take on Roanoke tomorrow, March 8th, at 2 pm.
