3 Game Win Streak Helps Moves Harrisburg Over .500

Middletown Pa - The Blue and White won both games of their double header against the visiting Valley Forge Christian Patriots.  Harrisburg won the first game 9-1 and the second game 12-5.

It has been a long road for the Lions to reach the point of being an above .500 team.  After starting the season with three losses, they started to win about half of their games during most of March.  Harrisburg put together a three game win streak and has now reached just one minor goal on way to what could be an exciting season ahead.

Today's first game remained tight for the first three innings as both teams struggled to connect for any hits during the first three innings.  Once the Lions had a second shot at the Valley Forge Christian's starting pitcher David Smith, they got one run in the fourth to open things up.

Catcher Tim Gonzalez (Whittier, Cal. / St. Paul) was impressive, going 3-4 with a double and 3 RBI's.  The Lions finished the first game scoring 4 runs in both the fifth and sixth innings for the 9-1 win.

Harrisburg took the momentum and used smart at bats to earn walks in between driving the ball for singles to put the runners around the bases.  Pitcher Will Chaney (Lancaster, Pa. / Lampeter-Strasburg) got the start and kept the Patriots scoreless in the first two innings.  Ryan Pilgermayer (Pennsburg, Pa. / Quakertown)came in and finished the job, despite one bad inning for the Lion defense in the sixth, when they gave up a spirit lifting 5 runs, only 2 earned, to the visitors.    Pilgermayer took home his first win of the season with his five innings today.

The Lions are focused and ready to keep the wins coming as they into conference play this upcoming week.  They head to New York to face off against Keuka and Cazenovia for two double headers this Saturday and Sunday.
