Late Game Heroics Boost Nittany Lions

MIDDLETOWN, PA – Late game heroics give the Penn State Harrisburg baseball team the split in a non-conference affair Wednesday, April 14thagainst Immaculata University held at the Penn State Harrisburg baseball field.

In game one, a wild pitch and a stolen base would give the Mighty Macs the early 2-0 lead in the top half of the 1st inning. The blue and white would not response until the bottom of the 4th with Nick Knull (Enola, PA/Cedar Cliff)forcing the sacrifice fly to bring in teammate Drew Schanz (Lancaster, PA/Hempfield) from third.

The Nittany Lions would score again in the bottom of the 5th off the RBI single from Joe McMenamin (Springfield, PA/Springfield) to bring in Josh Kefauver (Wellsville, PA/Northern York) from second.

In the top of the 7th, Matt Hardy would connect on a 2 RBI homerun to give the visiting Macs the lead and eventually the 4-2 win over the Nittany Lions.

Game two would feature five lead changes before McMenamin's 2 RB I double in the bottom of the 6th inning to drive in teammates, Derek Ward (Dallas, GA/East Paulding) and Drew Kramer (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), giving the blue and white the 10-9 lead and eventual win.

Making his college career debut on the mound, Josh Kefauver would pitch 4 1/3 innings of relief work only allowing five hits while striking out two batters grabbing the win after the Mark Chimel (Middletown, PA/Middletown) save in the top of the 7th.

Penn State Harrisburg hits the road for their next three doubleheaders traveling to Cazenovia, New York this Saturday, April 17th to play conference foe, Cazenovia College. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
