MIDDLETOWN, PA - While a number of Penn State Harrisburg baseball players are playing with local twilight teams, three players are continuing their collegiate seasons this summer. Matt Umberger, Dan Vignola, and Andrew Haden are all participating in college summer leagues or collegiate travel teams.

Matt Umberger (Lower Dauphin/Hummelstown, PA) is playing in the Mississippi River Valley League in Dubuque, Iowa. This is the first season for the league that includes players from NCAA Division 1, 2, and 3 schools along with NAIA schools and junior colleges. Umberger has been catching and even pitching during his stint with the Waves of the River League. He recently participated in the first league All-Star game that was held July 3rd.

Dan Vignola (West Islip/West Islip, NY) is playing closer to his Long Island, New York, home this summer. He is a member of the Suffolk Braves of the Long Island Federation of Amateur Baseball Leagues. The college wood bat division for which Vignola plays is made up of players from NCAA, NAIA and junior college schools. He has been pitching and playing first base for the Braves during the summer season.

After earning his undergraduate degree in May, Andrew Haden (Manheim Township/Lititz, PA) will be spending part of his summer representing PSH and America as a member of USA Athletes International baseball team on an international tour of Spain. USA Athletes International, Inc. provides opportunities for athletes and coaches to participate in international sporting events while also providing cultural opportunities. During the ten day goodwill tour, Haden and the USAAI team will be playing against teams throughout Spain while taking in the Spanish culture. He will pitch as a starter and reliever for the travel team.
