Penn State Harrisburg to Open New Baseball Field

March 20, 2008

Middletown — Thursday March 27th will mark a very special day in Penn State Harrisburg athletics. That is the official opening day of the Nittany Lions brand new baseball field, as the baseball team will play host to Penn State Hazleton.

The decision to construct a new field for the baseball team began with the inclusion of the college into the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) and was led on by the President of HDH Bylerly and chair member of the Penn State Harrisburg Board of Advisors, James C. Bylerly. John W. Gleim Jr., a friend of the college, was also a very key contributor to the construction of the field. In addition to the new field, United Concordia has provided a financial gift to construct the home team dugout on the field.

The inclusion of the baseball field now brings every intercollegiate sport onto campus, except for golf, and is a welcomed site to many Penn State Harrisburgstudents and staff.

The game Thursday against Penn State Hazleton is a scheduled double-header and starts at 1:00 P.M.
