Career Studies Graduate Matt Joyce Raises Awareness On World Down Syndrome Day

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball and baseball manager and career studies graduate Matt Joyce '20 is helping the community celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by spreading awareness on Tuesday, March 21. 

 

The celebration that occurs yearly on March 21 was established to raise awareness about down syndrome. The date was chosen in to order to represent the 21st day of the third month, signifying the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome.

 

Joyce shared a personal message on World Down Syndrome Day:

 

 

On March 21, Rubber Soul in Hummelstown, Pa. is hosting a World Down Syndrome Day celebration from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The event is sponsored by 3.21 For Life, which is a non-profit organization that strives to educate everyone about the unique and remarkable qualities of those who have down syndrome while also promoting inclusion. Joyce will be a part of the celebration, which is free and includes various activities that are great for all ages.
