Sheaffer, Buckingham Earn All-Conference Honors

LATHAM, N.Y. - A pair of Penn State Harrisburg women's volleyball players in Melanie Sheaffer and Cheyanna Buckingham have earned United East All-Conference recognition. Sheaffer was named to the all-conference first team, while Buckingham received second-team all-conference recognition.

Sheaffer averaged 2.51 kills per set, tallied 206 total kills, and posted a .205 hitting percentage during her senior season. The Palmyra, Pa. native also added 50 digs, 18 total blocks, and a pair of service aces in 2021. The outside hitter recorded 219 total points this fall and currently ranks second all-time in program history with 816 career kills and 958.5 career points.

Buckingham racked up a team-high 212 kills to go along with a 2.19 kills per set mark and a .211 hitting percentage during her senior campaign. The middle blocker was also strong at the net defensively, tallying 39 total blocks to push her points total to 233 for the season. Her 103 career block assists are good enough to rank her third all-time in program history.

The pair helped lead Penn State Harrisburg to the No. 3 seed in the upcoming United East Championship Tournament. The Lions (19-9, 6-2 United East) begin postseason play against second-seeded Gallaudet at Penn State Berks on Friday night, Nov. 5. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
