CHAMP! Gibson Earns 1,500m Title at NJAC Championships

PITMAN, N.J. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's track & field runner Tatyana Gibson impressed on day two of the 2022 New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) on Sunday, May 8.

 

On the women's side, a number of individuals made the podium, starting on the track with Tatyana Gibson, who earned gold in the 1,500m with a PR of 4:48.31, setting a new facility record. Gibson went on to win silver with a time of 2:19.48 in the 800m. In the 5,000m race, Sammi Aromin came away with silver as a result of her 18:24.98 time - also a PR for the rookie. Kyli Moon-Rumsey earned silver in the heptathlon with a PR of 3,663 points, which ranks second in Penn State Harrisburg history. Starr Williams capped off the Lions' silver-winning efforts in the triple jump with a second-place finish of 10.88m, which is also a PR for her.

 

The women's 4x100m relay team of Leah Gray, Layla Germain, Jameraquai May, and Nofisat Aina combined to run a time of 52.37 seconds in the event, good enough to rank third all-time in program history.  

 

For the men, the 4x400m relay squad including Darby Gluscevich-Kepner, Luke Culver, Tony Pelino, and Angad Bhullar earned a top-10 finish with a time of 4:12.27. Alex White had another impressive day with a leap of 1.90 meters in the long jump, which proved strong enough for a fourth-place spot. Tony Pelino recorded a PR of 3.65 meters in the pole vault, which currently ranks second in program history. 

 

In the shot put, Sean Myron had a finish of 11.81 meters, a throw that puts him third all-time for the Lions. Bhullar also made Penn State Harrisburg history with a discus throw of 39.22 meters - third all-time for the Blue & White and a new personal record. Comlan Acoslitse also earned a PR in hammer throw (33.67 meters) and now ranks third in program history for that event.
