Gibson Named NJAC Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week

PITMAN, N.J. - Thanks to her record-setting performance on Saturday afternoon, Penn State Harrisburg's Tatyana Gibson has been named the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week.

Gibson's stellar freshman campaign continued over the weekend, as she set a pair of program records at the 39th Millersville Metrics on Saturday. The Harrisburg, Pa. native bested 67 other competitors to win the 800m behind an effort of 2:18.72; a time strong enough to rank 35th in the nation. Her second top-10 finish of the day came in the 1,500m, with her jaunt of 4:56.95 good enough to secure eighth place in a field of 59 total runners.

Gibson and her teammates will look to build on their success when the Lions travel to Grantham, Pa. for the three-day Messiah Multi and Invitational beginning on Thursday afternoon.
