Women's Soccer Adds Another to Incoming Class

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer head coach Brandon West has announced the program's incoming class for the 2023 season. The group is comprised of three players and will join a collection of returners coming off a 2022 campaign that saw the Lions earn a regional ranking for the first time in program history and advance to the United East Championship Game for the third straight season.

"With nearly our entire team returning from a year ago, we did not need a big class but we needed a class that will increase our depth, as well as push our training environment and make it better," said West. "I believe with the addition of these three players we have accomplished that. These three young women are great players who compete at a very high level but are also high in character and are great people. I am excited for them to come in this preseason and to incorporate them into a group that is already playing at such a high level."

Why Penn State Harrisburg? I always knew I wanted to play college soccer at a competitive level and also stay close to home. When I visited Penn State Harrisburg, I fell in love with the campus. The students and staff were very welcoming and the beautiful campus just felt like the right fit for me as my new home. I also learned during my search that Penn State Harrisburg is a very competitive program and knew that my determined and competitive nature make for a great fit. I had the pleasure to meet most of the team and feel happy knowing I made the right choice for myself. All the women on the team and coaches are amazing and so united like a family. They look out and support one another on and off the field and I am excited to be a part of the program while I pursue my future career. I can't wait to start my year with Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer.

Coach West: Esme really stood out at one of our ID Camps this past year. She is a very technical and crafty player who has the versatility to play centrally and out wide. She covers a lot of ground and is a tenacious defender on top of being very creative going forward.

Why Penn State Harrisburg? I chose Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer because I liked what the coaches had to say about how they played and how the atmosphere of the team was when getting to meet the players.

Coach West: Brin is a transfer from Division II North Greenville University. She has been with us since this past January and she has been a great addition to our program. She is a dynamic central midfielder with an endless motor on both sides of the ball.

Why Penn State Harrisburg? I chose Penn State Harrisburg because I cannot wait to play alongside these women from all over our home state of Pennsylvania and beyond. I'm looking forward to building championship teams and making unforgettable memories together.

Coach West: Kelsy is a solid ball-winning defender who has the versatility to play out wide as a defender or centrally as well. She also has good passing range and the composure to play out of the back. Her experience training at the college level and for one of the top clubs in Central PA will suit her well as she transitions to our program. We are excited to have her joining us this fall.

High School: Eastern Regional (N.J.)

Club Team: PDA South ECNL

Previous Team: Phillipines National Team

Why Penn State Harrisburg? I chose Penn State Harrisburg because I was impressed by the team's dedication and leadership all around. I knew I would be challenged both on and off the field, and I would be able to grow as a player and as a person by being a part of this team. It's exactly what I was looking for in a college experience.

Coach West: Kylie has played at an extremely high level, playing in the ECNL as well as with the Philippines National Team. She is a high level 1-v-1 defender with a great passing range and she has the ability to get forward as an outside back. She can play anywhere across the back four as well as centrally and she is an exciting addition to our program.

Penn State Harrisburg's 2023 women's soccer schedule will officially be released in the coming weeks. The Lions are set to play one of the strongest non-conference slates of any program in the country, with marquee matchups at Roanoke, Lynchburg, TCNJ, and Franklin & Marshall headlining the team's road matchups. Penn State Harrisburg will also play host to top-level programs including Shenandoah and Arcadia this fall.
