Numerous Track & Field PR's Reset at Messiah Invitational

GRANTHAM, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's outdoor track & field teams wrapped up their weekend at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday afternoon, April 15. 

 

Leah Gray continued her stellar season by setting a new personal record in the 200m dash and moving into second on the program's all-time list in the event with a time of 26.10 seconds. Earlier in the day, she secured a runner-up finish in the 100m dash with an effort of 12.39 seconds. Makayla Grace Weber also set a new PR in the 400m hurdles by nearly two seconds, earning a top-five finish in the event thanks to a time of 1:09.79. 

 

A pair of women's throwers in Emily Weber and Mikayla Wright also had big outings, with each setting new top marks. Weber's best throw of 33.39 meters in the discus proved a career best and was strong enough to rank second in program history in the event. In the hammer, Wright's top toss of 36.18 meters reset the best mark of her career and secured her third-place ranking in the event all-time. 

 

On the men's side, Isaac Whitson moved into second all-time in the program's triple jump rankings thanks to his best leap of 13.01 meters. Tony Pelino also improved his top effort in the pole vault, recording a success of 3.90 meters to earn a top-10 finish and rank second in program history. Sean Hamby also set a new PR in the 400m hurdles with an effort of 57.19 meters to solidify his runner-up position on the program's all-time list in the event.

 

Throwers Comlan Greg Acoliste and Angad Bhullar had strong showings as well, with Acoliste's 11.99-meter throw in the shot put moving him into third place all-time in the event and Bhullar finishing third in the discus throw out of 45 total competitors. Paul Netland III also secured a top-three finish, as he came home third in the 110m hurdles finals. 

 

The Lions will return to action when they take part in next weekend's Moravian's Coach Pollard Invitational.
