More Track & Field Records Fall at Gettysburg

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams competed at Gettysburg's Mason-Dixon Invitational on Saturday, April 23 and multiple program records fell during the event. 

 

On the women's side, Tatyana Gibson continued to improve on her 800m performance, winning the race and lowering her program-record time in the event to 2:15.94; a mark good enough to rank 34th in the nation. Leah Gray also turned in a new PR in the 100m dash, finishing fourth with her time of 13:01 ranking second all-time in program history. The women's 4x400m relay team of Jameraquai May, Gray, Gibson, and Dessire Amaya combined for a time of 4:30.91. The foursome's effort ranks third in the event in the program's record book. 

 

Elsewhere for the women, Starr Williams earned a third-place finish in the triple jump, while Sammi Aromin and Kyli Moon-Rumsey secured fourth-place finishes in the 5,000m and 100m hurdles, respectively.

 

For the men, Angad Bhullar led the way in the field, etching his name in the record book in the shot put thanks to his top toss of 12.10 meters; an effort strong enough to rank second all-time in the event. Mohammed Sakayl was victorious in the 10,000m run, with his time of 35:48.61 proving good enough to rank third in the event in program history. Sean Hamby added his name to another event the record book as well, with his time of 59.06 now standing as the third-best mark all-time in the event. 

 

The Lions are scheduled to wrap up the regular season at Shippensburg's annual Paul Kaiser Classic on Saturday, April 30. They'll turn their attention to the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Outdoor Championships the following the weekend.
