Track & Field In Action at Gettysburg's Mason Dixon Inviational

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's track & field teams were in action at the Mason Dixon Invitational hosted by Gettysburg College on Saturday morning, April 20.

As he has all spring, Cameron Yon led the way on the men's side, winning the discus throw in dominant fashion. The reigning Capital Athletic Conference (CAC) Men's Field Athlete of the Week put five of his attempts past the 50-meter mark, with his top toss of 54.05 meters besting the runner-up from Frostburg State by nearly 10 meters.

Elsewhere in the field, Andrew Bomberger won the pole vault thanks to his best effort of 4.19 meters, while Alex White earned a share of first place in the high jump after clearing 1.92 meters.

On the track, Dominick Hogans continued his strong spring, as his effort of 22.51 seconds in the 200m dash earned him a runner-up finish after he came home fourth in the 400m dash. Teammate Jalil Clayton secured a third-place finish in the 400m dash thanks to his time of 50.03 seconds. Shammah Gahomera finished third in the 400m hurdles and just missed out on a top-five time in the 110m hurdle event.

Clayton, Hogans, Gahomera and Alex Terody combined to clinch a runner-up finish in the 4x100m relay in a race that saw the Blue & White edge the hosts from Gettysburg by .16 seconds.

On the women's side, it was Sarah Lehman doing a little bit of everything for the Lions. The sophomore won the triple jump with a top bound of 11.07 meters and also took part in the 100m hurdles and 200m dash. Teammate Neeyah Turner came home third in the 100m hurdles, while Sephora Senestant nearly broke the program record in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.96.

Next up for a select number of Penn State Harrisburg athletes is Penn Relays later this week before the squad takes part in the Paul Kaiser Classic at Shippensburg next weekend.
