Basketball Trio Earns CoBL All-Area Recognition

PHILADELPHIA - Penn State Harrisburg men's basketball players Donyae Baylor-Carroll and Dylan Daniels, along with women's basketball player Kendis Butler, have earned City of Basketball Love (CoBL) Division III All-Area accolades. 

 

Baylor-Carroll earned CoBL All-Area First-Team honors, while Butler was named to the CoBL All-Area Second Team. Daniels was tabbed a CoBL All-Area Third-Team selection. 

 

For Baylor-Carroll, it is his second CoBL All-Area accolade after he garnered second-team recognition in 2019-20. A D3hoops.com Preseason Second-Team All-American, he was named to the Bevo Francis Award Top 100 Watch List by Small College Basketball in mid-January before earning a pair of all-region honors from both D3hoops.com (1T) and the NABC (2T). A United East All-Conference First-Team pick, he became the fastest player in program history to score 1,000 career points (60 games) during a win over Washington College in November. In addition to his 17.9 points, 4.0 assists, and 3.3 rebounds per game, the Harrisburg, Pa. native ranked top-25 in the nation in 3-point field goals made (85) and 3-pointers per game (3.15). He was also stout of the defensive end, ranking top-30 nationally in total steals (65) and steals per game (2.41). The playmaker was stellar at the foul line as well, ranking 53rd in Division III in free throw percentage (84.5).

 

Butler becomes the first women's basketball player to earn CoBL All-Area recognition after turning in another strong campaign in 2021-22. This winter, she was named to the United East All-Conference First Team after earning the same accolade following the 2019-20 campaign. The sharpshooting guard was the team's top scorer, averaging 13.5 points per game. She also pulled down 3.3 rebounds and dished out 2.1 assists per contest, while her 1.8 steals per game average proved the best of her career. The York, Pa. native ranked ninth in the nation in 3-pointers per game (3.24), as well as 10th among Division III players with 81 total 3-pointers made. This season, Butler became the fastest player in program history to score 1,000 career points (72 games) and just the third Penn State Harrisburg player to achieve the feat.

 

Daniels secured CoBL All-Area honors for the first time following a stellar senior season that saw him earn United East All-Conference First-Team recognition. The shot-blocking extraordinaire ranked second in the country in rejections per game (3.96) and third in the nation in total blocks (99). The Clarksville, Md. native averaged 11.9 points per game on 56.5 percent shooting from the field to go along with 7.7 rebounds per game. The rim-running big man also recorded a team-high nine double-doubles on the year. For his efforts, Daniels was named the United East Player of the Week in early December.
