Men's Hoops Receives Votes In Season's Final National Rankings

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - For the second straight year, Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team ends the season receiving votes in the D3hoops.com Top 25 National Rankings.  

 

The Lions (24-4) received eight votes in the final national poll of the 2021-22 campaign after knocking off No. 9 St. Joseph (Conn.) in the first round of the NCAA Division III Tournament and advancing to the round of 32 for the second consecutive season before falling to No. 13 WPI in second-round action. The Blue & White racked up a program-record 24 victories with a program-best .857 win percentage and captured their second straight United East Conference Championship in impressive fashion.

 

As a team, Penn State Harrisburg ranked fifth in the nation in scoring margin (17.4), as well as top-20 in the country in assists per game (18.2), blocked shots per game (5.0), field-goal percentage defense (38.4), scoring defense (62.1), and steals per game (10.9).  

 

Numerous individuals were also recognized for their efforts this season, led by a D3hoops.com Regional Coach of the Year honor for head coach Don Friday. Donyae Baylor-Carroll secured D3hoops.com All-Region First-Team accolades and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-District Second-Team honors after being named to the United East All-Conference First Team. Dylan Daniels and Brandon Coleman joined Baylor-Carroll as first-team all-conference honorees, while Nate Curry earned a spot on the all-conference second team.
